Home and Abroad...

Finally - an update! All of our "stuff" arrived last Thursday, three weeks and two days after it was picked up in Muncie. Not bad, considering we were told it would take "three to five weeks" for our things to get here. Four movers dropped it off - and put most things in the wrong rooms. (Plates in the living room, sheets, in the kitchen, etc.) More than a week later, we are still unpacking! Pictures of the new house will be added shortly! In the meantime...

I took this picture in our side yard, looking east at the Chugach mountains. It's never a problem rolling out of bed to drink a cup of coffee or tea, have some scrambled eggs and watch the clouds pass by the mountains.

Luke & Elsa's first adventure in an "off leash" dog park. We were hyper aware of moose, although none spotted yet, since we like to walk down their well worn paths through the woods. Elsa also likes to run circles around the mound in the middle of the off leash path.

Cheney Lake Park, just down from our house, and infamous sight of the "kids don't float!" sign. All in all, a nice place to end a long day outdoors or to take a quick paddle and throw your bait in. Note: it's catch and release buster!

On Friday morning, sunlight came streaming through the windows and beckoned us to the road. We took a trip south of Anchorage to check out Cook Inlet and the surrounding environs. We visited Beluga Point, hiked at Bird Point, and stopped by Girdwood and visited Moose Meadow Park in the shadows of the Alyeska Ski Resort. Below are some of the sights from our little odyssey.

Our first collective visit to Bird Point

A nice view from the trail that rises above Bird Pt. and runs to Girdwood, all uphill, 6 miles later. A really nice place to hike and bike right next to the Alaska Range, rising out of Cook Inlet.

Another view just off the Bird--Girdwood trail. We had a nice day in the sun hiking with Elsa. It's hard to believe it's just half an hour outside of South Anchorage.
